Summer may be cooling down, but things to do in Denver, Colorado are heating up for fall. Here is a list of shows, events and Denver activities you won’t want to miss!
SEE: Frohawk Two Feathers
MCA Denver Colorado is showcasing the first solo museum exhibition dedicated to the work of Frohawk Two Feathers, the pseudonym for L.A.-based artist Umar Rashid. The exhibition includes more than 20 paintings, works on paper, and sculpture. Frohawk Two Feather’s collective work brilliantly re-imagines history and recounts the story of Frengland, his fictionalized European empire. By reinterpreting colonial history, his work shows the subjective nature of historical recollection. The artist created new works exclusively for the exhibit that further that expand the narrative to the Western United States.

September 4 – September 16
Before there was The Birdcage, there was La Cage! This fall-out-of-your-seat hysterical Broadway production is the winner of three Tony Awards. La Cage tells the story of the owner of a glitzy nightclub in Saint Tropez and his partner who moonlights as a glamorous chanteuse as they meet the conservative parents of their son’s fiancée. A wild and touching tale of one family’s struggle to stay together and stay true. Sensational Denver nightlife entertainment at the Buell Theatre!
DO: Fashion Night Out on Larimer Square
Those who think that the world of glamour is confined to Manhattan need only to dust off the heels and stroll down Larimer for FNO. Historic Larimer Square’s chic boutiques will be celebrating Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday, September 6th with designer trunk shows, nibbles and cocktails from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. A final rooftop fashion show at 8PM offers fashionistas the chance to win a $500 shopping spree! Donations benefit the Colorado AIDS project.

September 6 – September 8
The 8th Annual Denver Food and Wine event is a three day culinary experience for gourmands, beer and wine lovers. The foodie weekend starts on Friday with the Restaurants Rock Fundraiser at Metropolitan State University of Denver Colorado. Guests will indulge in wine, spirits, and divine dishes from the city’s finest restaurants while enjoying live music. On Friday you may also purchase a ticket to one of the seminars like the “Dueling Chefs” presentation with Reality TV Stars Kelly Liken (Top Chef) and Jenna Johansen (Around the World in 80 Plates). The food and drinks keep coming on Saturday during the DFW Grand Tasting event from noon to 4:00PM at Metropolitan State University. Sample you heart out with +600 featured wines, signature spirits, haute cuisine from Denver’s top restaurants, a silent auction, and a Viking Culinary Chef showcase. Premier restaurants include The Brown Palace, Linger, Root Down, Jax, Cholon, Row 14, Zengo, La Tour, and many more!
DO: The Wildlife Experiences 10th Anniversary Event
Visit the Wildlife Museum on Saturday, September 8th for a special $1 admission and the opportunity to enjoy a variety of family friendly outdoor adventure activities throughout the museum grounds. Younger children can meet Diego from Nick Jr.’s popular show Go, Diego, Go!, create spin art, jump in the elephant bounce house, and get inked with a wild temporary tattoo. Visitors can nosh on carnival fare like kettle corn and BBQ or catch in a wildlife film in the 3D Extreme Screen Theater.
SEE: Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
Frankie Valli came to fame in 1962 as the lead singer of The Four Seasons and is still hotter than ever. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Seasons’ first hit “Sherry,” Frankie is on an international tour that makes a September stop at Denver Colorado’s Buell Theatre. We know this will be Oh what a night!
DO: Denver Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & Half Marathon
The 24 or 12 mile course will lead runners from Civic Center Park through Denver Colorado’s beautiful parks, neighborhoods and historic landmarks with views of the Rockies. Not a runner? Cyclists can also participate in the Bike Tour beginning prior to the Marathon. Denver bands perform live music from alternative to classic rock, punk, funk, and blues. The beats keep the runners jamming from to the finish line!
SEE: Aspen Santa Fe Ballet
September 22 – September 23
The famed Aspen Santa Fe Ballet returns to kick off their tenth season of dance at Denver Colorado’s Newman Center. This eclectic, progressive dance company has a sophisticated foundation in classical ballet that creates an incredible and moving impression on viewers of any age.
September 25 – September 30
Stomp is an explosive, sexy performance that is unparalleled by any typical theatre experience. The international percussion sensation has received an artillery of accolades and is fun for the entire family. The eight-member troupe uses unconventional percussion instruments from Zippo lighters to garbage cans to light up the stage with rhythm and Denver nightlife euphoria.
