Kick off summer with music festivals, waterparks and all-day events around Denver this Memorial Day. There are so many events happening in Colorado, we’re going to have trouble deciding what to do!

Commemorate those who lost their lives while serving our country during the Denver Memorial Day Parade on May 25 at 11:30 in and around Civic Center Park. Followed by the parade is the Veterans Day Memorial Day Tribute at the Veterans Monument.

The BolderBOULDER is a favorite Colorado 10k. The second largest race in the country with over 50,000 runners, the BolderBOULDER is not your ordinary race. More than thirty bands and other entertainers will line the course to get you to the finish with a smile.

Throughout Memorial Day Weekend, the Denver Performing Arts Complex invites art lovers alike to the Downtown Denver Arts Festival featuring more than 150 of Colorado’s best artists starting May 24 through May 26. Last year’s event attracted nearly 150,000 people, who purchased more than $500,000 worth of art contributing to Colorado’s creative community.

For those who like things a little louder, check out Denver Day of Rock as the 16th Street Mall transforms into one massive block party with 25 free rock concerts on May 25. From 2:30 to 9:30 rock your head to the sweet sounds of free music while enjoying great food and beer set up throughout downtown. Check out the full lineup here.

This four-day event is sure to stir up the artist in all of us. The brand new ArtStir Denver at the Denver Pavilions downtown showcases local and regional artists, more than 75 artisan booths, and a locals only stage. With a dynamic mixture of talented musicians and artist demonstrations, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Colorado Chapter of AIGA.

…And are given the royal treatment by dedicated beekeepers. With colony collapse disorder affecting the honey bee population, the Brown Palace decided to develop the Royal Bee Initiative in 2009 to do its part with helping in the preservation of the bee population and our beloved honey source.

With longer days and warmer temperatures, this is the time of year when the colony is growing rapidly. The queen will be reaching her greatest rate of egg laying, and the hive will be bursting with activity. In addition to caring for workers (female bees) and drones (male bees), the honeybees are also preparing to rear a new queen.

Each hive on the rooftop has a captivating name: V.I.Bee Sweet, Buzzingham Palace, The Buzzidential Sweet, and The Mile Hive City—chosen by a social media contest the Brown Palace hosted. The surrounding nectar, pollen, linden trees and flora give the honey a discrete earthy, mint flavor, according to one beekeeper. The estimated 400 pounds of honey to come from the royal bees will be collected for Brown Palace sweeteners and healing elixirs.

Here’s how you can enjoy the rooftop bees’ honey:

Afternoon Tea: Rooftop honey accompanies the Brown Palace’s daily tea.

Brown Palace Saison Rooftop Honey Beer: With another batch of a limited time only beer in the works, the Wynkoop Brewery will develop a rooftop beer sold exclusively at the Brown Palace and Wynkoop Brewery.

Brown Palace-Branded Lip Balm and Soap: The locally made, organic lip balm and soap are available at the hotel’s coffee shop and spa.

The Spa at The Brown Palace: Sweet nectar is used at the hotel’s spa.

Summer nights spent with a slight breeze, good friends, and music in the air is only complete at one place: Red Rocks. Colorado’s legendary open-air venue, which has hosted historic acts from the Beatles to Fleetwood Mac, brings performances that will have you dancing all night long.

Thursday, May 30: Electronic trio The Postal Service will stop by Red Rocks along the way of their mostly sold out tour, which continues on to New York and Europe. Their debut album Give Up hits the ten-year mark this year.

Friday, June 21: The Ultimate Thriller Michael Jackson Tribute isn’t just an admiration tour for the late icon. This production brings together Jackson’s closest collaborators including his choreographer, principal dancer and recording engineer to re-create the legend’s most unforgettable concert moments.

Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17: Throat granuloma nearly stole John Mayer’s voice, but the musical style shifter announced his Born and Raised World Tour after a three year hiatus. “The greatest gift I have in my life is the opportunity to play again, which is also the opportunity to dream again,” he told Billboard in March.

Friday, July 19 – Sunday, July 21: This year at the Global Dance Festival, each night will highlight a different genre for the nearly 10,000-a-day crowd. Friday will showcase experimental, psychedelic sounds, Saturday will cater to all those who love to dance and Sunday is the base-heavy conclusion.

Saturday, August 24: This year marks the 25th anniversary of Reggae on the Rocks, which launched in 1988. Legendary roots reggae artist Burning Spear makes his anticipated return, performing hardly any other shows this summer.

The Palace Arms at The Brown Palace not only made the list, but was also singled out as one of the top ten restaurants on the list that provide the very best service experience.

Recently celebrating our 120th anniversary, we are also welcoming a new chef and new culinary offerings to Palace Arms under the leadership of Chef Justin Schreiber. Joining the team earlier this year from The Little Nell in Aspen, Chef Schreiber will continue to honor the award-winning outlet’s reputation, expanding on the special occasion dining experiences with modern touches.
