Denver Restaurants: Palace Arms at The Brown Palace in Top 100 Best Restaurants in the U.S.

OpenTable released its list of 2011 Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 100 Restaurants in the U.S. and Palace Arms at The Brown Palace Hotel is among those sharing the honors. With the list of 100 restaurants coming from 34 states and over 10 million diner reviews, the Palace Arms was the only Denver restaurant to share list real estate with culinary icons like the French Laundry, Per Se and Le Berndain.

Known for its contemporary fine dining and its unique setting, the Palace Arms menu features signature items such as Colorado Lamb Loin and Bison Rossini as well as new twists on old classics. Palace Arms has also won the “Best of Award of Excellence” for its wine list quality and variety from Wine Spectator since 1990.

Denver Holiday Traditions: Afternoon Tea at The Brown Palace

Afternoon Holiday Tea at The Brown Palace is a fabulous Denver tradition. Due to its popularity, however, securing a last minute reservation may be a bit of challenge. Erin Johnston, Spa and Retail Director at The Brown Palace, shares a fun tea alternative that is both relaxing and festive.

24th Annual Champagne Cascade at The Brown Palace

Here at The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, we invite you to join us for our 24th Annual Champagne Cascade on Sunday, November 13th at noon.  At this iconic event, we will feature a master swordsman who will use an antique Napoleonic saber to sever the bottle necks of Moet & Chandon Champagne bottles.  Then, we will pour the bubbling drink into the uppermost glass of the 6,000-glass pyramid raising almost two stories in our beautiful Atrium Lobby.  Open to the public, we encourage those who are interested to come and view the spectacle from floors four through seven and watch the champagne flow.  We will also be donating 100% of the proceeds from our VIP ticket sales to Volunteers of America, as well as collecting children’s toys for the organization’s annual Christmas Basket program.  Attendees donating items will be automatically entered for a chance to win great prizes, including spa treatments, dining experiences and overnight stays.

Following the Cascade, we will be holding a contest for the public to guess the amount of teddy bears used to fill a window display at the hotel. The winner that guesses the closest number to the amount of bears in the display will be able to choose the children’s organization where the bears will be donated.

To get a sense of what this event is all about, check out the footage from last year’s Cascade in the video below….but we can promise you that seeing the overflowing champagne over thousands of glasses on video is absolutely nothing to viewing it in person!  We hope to see you there!

Send off The Summer in Style – Labor Day in Denver

As we say goodbye to another summer, the City of Denver will play host to a number of family friendly activities to send it out with a bang over this long Labor Day Weekend.  From delectable food sampling down at the Civic Center to baseball games to music festivals, if you’re looking for a way to spend your extra day off, you’re sure to find plenty of options in the Mile High City.

Denver.org provides a great guide of events and activities to attend for those seeking some fun, and of course, if you’re looking for a holiday feast, come join us for a spectacular Labor Day themed Sunday Brunch.

While we’re sad to see summer go, there’s nothing more enjoyable than a Colorado autumn when the leaves start to changes hues and the air is crisp and cold.  When it gets chilly, don’t forget to warm up with a cup of tea at The Brown Palace….but for now, let’s celebrate these last few blissful days of summer.

The Brown Palace’s Eisenhower Suite

Since 1905, almost every U.S. president has visited The Brown Palace Hotel. That’s why it’s only fitting that our three presidential Denver hotel suites – each refurbished in 2000 – should be named for three former presidents.  Located on the top two floors of the hotel, these beautiful dwellings are referred to as the Eisenhower Suite, Roosevelt Suite, and Reagan Suite.

Each suite is completely unique, and offers stunning décor amid spectacular surroundings. President Eisenhower used the hotel as his summer headquarters during his administration, and the suite named after him is one of a kind. With a light atmosphere, complimented with warm, clean tones, the Eisenhower Suite provides a welcoming and comfortable experience for guests.  If you stay here, make sure to take a close look at the fireplace.  President Eisenhower loved to golf, and a wayward golf ball – or perhaps an interrupted back swing – made a dent in the fireplace mantel in the Eisenhower Suite. That piece of the mantel remains in the suite framed as a souvenir.

Bike Around Denver

Denver….we’ve got so much to see, and in our outdoorsy-active focused community, why view the sights from behind a windshield? How about trying something different? Denver B-cycle is a bike sharing system where dozens of special stations span the Denver area…including spots right near us at The Brown Palace. Denver B-cycle members can pick up one of the red bikes at any B-station and drop it off at any other B-station—so you can get around town without $pending on gas, all while sneaking in a little workout. (That all sounds great eh?)

If you’re interested in learning more, visit their website.  It may be a perfect way to get some exercise after a mind-blowing brunch….and this weekend’s theme is blueberries….yum!
